Nemours seeking patients for a family intervention study for children who are overweight...Dr. Amanda Lochrie, Psychologist, Division of Psychology and Psychiatry, NCC-J, in collaboration with Drs. Balagopal and Canas, is conducting a three year study to evaluate a family intervention program for children who are overweight and their families.
This study is recruiting overweight boys (BMI >85th percentile) between 8 and 11 years of age to participate in the study.

From FL to MA - man walks 1,200 miles to shed light on obesity
The Million Calorie March is a 1,200 mile fitness walk pursued by solo-walker Gary Marino from Jacksonville to Boston to raise funding for obesity research and education efforts. The Duval County Health Department in conjunction with the Healthy Jacksonville Childhood Obesity Coalition and pediatric obesity experts from the Nemours Children's Clinic-Florida conducted a press conference on Monday April 5th, 2004 to help raise awareness.
