Partnering with Wolfson Children’s Hospital 

A unique relationship with Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville allows our Nemours specialists to provide pediatric consultation in the emergency room, and in the hospital or outpatient surgery center. Part of Baptist Health, Wolfson Children’s Hospital has a long-standing reputation for excellence in children’s health, and this collaboration of expertise and technology benefits every child in the area. It’s a connection that’s both professional and literal, as in 2012, a skyway will join Nemours to the new Wolfson Children's Hospital center.

Working Together With the Mayo Clinic

Nemours pediatric specialists provide treatment for patients of world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida and help train the next generation of pediatric physicians through the Mayo pediatric residency programs. Nemours also partners with the Mayo Clinic. One example of the partnership is the Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program of Mayo Clinic, Nemours Children’s Clinic, Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. This groundbreaking program was recently awarded a three-year accreditation renewal by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).

Pioneering robotic surgery

Nemours’ urologists in Jacksonville are helping to pioneer robotic surgery for children who are often under two years of age. The robot is the assistive device for a laparoscopic procedure that provides 3-D imagery and views at 15-times magnification. The benefits of robotic surgery are smaller incisions, smaller scars, faster healing time and less pain.

The Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and Communication Sciences (ENT)

The ENT Division at the Nemours Children’s Clinic, Jacksonville, evaluates and treats diseases or disorders of the ear, nose and throat, including head, neck and communication problems, as well as pediatric facial plastic surgery. The expertise of fellowship-trained physicians, audiologists and speech pathologists come together in a coordinated approach, allowing for rapid diagnosis and use of the most advanced techniques in the management of these childhood diseases. With all the experts under one roof, the ENT Division serves as both a primary care and regional tertiary care referral source for infants, children and adolescents in northeast Florida, southeast Georgia and beyond.
