Breast care at Nemours Children’s is led by pediatric plastic surgeons who are experts in treating even the most complex adolescent breast problems.
We work with many medical specialists, like endocrinologists, psychologists, nurses and nurse practitioners. We partner with your family to create a personalized care plan to address your teen’s breast issues and restore confidence and body positivity.
We understand how breast problems during adolescence can impact self-esteem and well-being. And it can be hard to talk about. We guide you and your teen with compassion and empathy. Our approach is sensitive, and we do everything we can to help your teen feel comfortable and empowered to make care decisions.
Early and proper breast care is important for the best possible results. That’s why we encourage evaluation as soon as you have a breast concern.
What to Expect at Your Consultation
We know that talking about breast issues can be difficult for young girls. The first appointment is usually with one of our female providers. She will listen to concerns and answer questions. If there are ongoing changes in breast development or weight, follow-up visits every six months may be needed. Our physician assistant or nurse practitioner will guide you and your child through the process, including preparing for surgery if needed. When it's time to plan the surgery, you'll meet with the surgeon for further evaluation and discussion.
