Our Leadership: Mary Mehta, MD

Mary Mehta, MD is Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Nemours Children's Health, Pensacola. Her career is focused on meeting the medical needs of children and their families. Since coming to Florida's panhandle in 2004, she has been dedicated to that mission.

Dr. Mehta serves on the boards of Ronald McDonald House Charities and the YMCA of Northwest Florida. She is a graduate of the 2006 class of Leadership Pensacola.

Dr. Mehta is a graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, the oldest medical school in the state. Following medical school, a pediatric residency took her to New Orleans. Upon completion of her residency, Dr. Mehta moved to Miami for a fellowship in pediatric cardiology.

In 1992, while living in Miami, Dr. Mehta learned first-hand the importance of cooperation between medical professionals and the community and how vital it is that everyone come together when recovering from a devastating natural disaster. This is a lesson that has served her well during her years as a medical leader in Northwest Florida.

While she is a pediatric cardiologist by training and practice, Dr. Mehta enjoys the overall management and leadership responsibilities she encounters as CMO. Her work is "very fulfilling."

Along with her very supportive husband, David, their three children and new granddaughter, Dr. Mehta spends her free time on their farm raising akaushi cattle.
