Get to Know Me
Dr. Raphael Yoo is a board-certified radiologist with subspecialty training in pediatric radiology, as well as both adult and pediatric vascular and interventional radiology at Harvard University.
Why I Treat Children
My younger sister had a life-threatening illness when she was 2 or 3 years old. I was 12 or 13 years old at the time. We were told to “prepare for life without her,” but the doctors were able to treat her and save her. From that point forward, I strived to become a physician. My sister has grown to become a beautiful young woman and successful teacher. I want to give all children the opportunity to live a normal and healthy life.
What I'm Passionate About
My specialty within radiology is Interventional Radiology. We specialize in minimally invasive procedures throughout the entire scope of medicine (vascular access, feeding tubes, ports for chemotherapy, locoregional tumor ablation, abscess drainage, biopsies). Another area of focus is our involvement in diagnosis and treatment of vascular malformations and anomalies as leaders of the Vascular Anomalies Clinic here at Nemours Children’s Hospital. My specific medical interests involve all aspects of interventional radiology, including: vascular access abscess drainage biopsies chemoembolization tumor ablation vascular reconstruction diagnosis and treatment of vascular malformations and anomalies
How I Try to Make A Difference
Being the father of two children, I realize the stresses of having a sick child. Nothing makes you realize how little control you have of a situation than when your child is sick. My goal as a physician is to help alleviate some of that stress and to model myself as someone you can trust will take the best care of your child.
