Get to Know Me
Caring for children in the Emergency Department takes a lot of teamwork, so I’m grateful for our strong, supportive team in the Nemours Children’s Hospital ED. At home, I have another kind of support team: My wife, three kids and two dogs. When I have free time, I enjoy playing drums and swimming for fun and exercise.
Why I Treat Children
Kids are fun to be around, and I enjoy their honesty. In a way, caring for them is a selfish thing — it makes me feel really good to help a child get well.
What I'm Passionate About
I’m passionate about giving kids a voice in their care, with an opportunity to ask questions and be involved in decision-making. I think we should give kids more credit and pay attention to their input.
How I Try to Make A Difference
I’m a big believer in family-centered care, and that means truly empathizing with my patients and their family. When you put yourself in their shoes, you’re much more likely to listen carefully and communicate clearly. I also love to teach and help mold the next generation of doctors to be smart and caring.
