Get to Know Me
I love being a pediatrician. No parent or child wants to spend a night at the hospital. The hospital can be a scary experience for everyone involved: not knowing what to expect, being away from the familiar routines of home and school, and (on top of it all) worrying about illness and discomfort. During medical school, I was surprised by how much seeing a child in need energized me to take action. For those moments that I am with them, their world is my world. I am honored to be given the opportunity to work with children in this setting. My goal is to help mitigate fears and work with families and their child/children towards returning everyone to health and play.
Why I Treat Children
To get them back to being ballerinas, astronauts, firefighters and superheroes.
What I'm Passionate About
I believe health for children is not only freedom from disease, but access to quality education, housing, nutrition, relationships and resources. To that goal, I have worked with the Virginia Department of Health, Richmond City Health Department, spoken at both the state and national government levels with House Representatives and Senators, served in the Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and was involved regionally in the southeast and nationally with leadership in the American Academy of Pediatrics — advocating for more equitable and evidence-driven care.
How I Try to Make A Difference
By being a voice for children. By holding myself up to the highest standards so I can be the best pediatrician for your child and family.
