Lian Liu, PhD

Get to Know Me

Lian Liu, PhD, completed her doctoral education at Lehigh University and her predoctoral psychology internship at Terry Children’s Center. She has dedicated her career to treating a diverse spectrum of mental health concerns across the age span through evidence-based interventions and assessments. She believes in culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices, both on the client- and systems-wide level and is passionate about work that is collaborative, community centered and strengths-based. She is a proud Delawarean and is glad to be serving the community that has been so instrumental in her own growth and development.

Why I Treat Children

I have always been passionate about working with children and their families. I believe that early intervention in childhood can have incredible, positive benefits for the rest of an individual’s developmental history. I use culturally and trauma-responsive practices with children and their families to address a diverse range of challenges and believe therapy should be both supportive and collaborative.

What I'm Passionate About

I am passionate about trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices in therapy and ways to create inviting and affirming spaces for children and families to meet their therapeutic goals. These passions reflect in my clinical, research and extracurricular work, which includes both work with individual clients, the community and systems at large.

How I Try to Make A Difference

I try and infuse my personal and professional values into all aspects of my life. Part of these values includes enacting individual and systems-level changes through my clinical work, research, social justice advocacy, and community service activities. I hope that my work reflects a belief in not only the self-determination and self-efficacy of my clients and their families, but in the importance of changing the systems around them to better suit their needs.
