Leukemia in Children
Because You’re Family
With the right treatment, leukemia in children can be managed (put in “remission”) and even completely cured. At the Nemours Children’s Health Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, our pediatric leukemia experts help your family through it all.
We give your family the support services you need while providing pediatric leukemia treatment that offers your child the best outcomes. Our leukemia services not only help kids live longer — they help them live better too.
Childhood Leukemia Care at Nemours Children’s: Why Choose Us
When you come to us, your child’s hematologist/oncologist (specialist in cancer and blood disorders), nurses and other providers get to know you like family. Dozens of leukemia specialists from the Delaware Valley and Northeast and Central Florida also help manage your child’s care. It’s one of the largest teams of its kind in the nation. The result? Less treatment side effects, better quality of life and outstanding outcomes that are among the best in the United States.
You can also expect:
- Award-winning, passionate leukemia team. Our doctors include world and national leaders in pediatric leukemia treatment. Your child receives hands-on care from doctors who are regularly voted among America’s best. They are also among the nation’s go-to experts for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML). - Fast diagnosis. We provide diagnoses within days for children who might have leukemia. We then explain your options and provide the support needed to make the best care decisions for your child. This includes a comprehensive genetic evaluation of both the leukemia and your child.
- Full range of pediatric leukemia treatments. Whatever your child needs, we have you covered. We offer CAR T-cell therapy, stem cell transplants, oncologic physical therapy, fertility preservation, psychology and nationally recognized childhood cancer survivorship programs.
- Help coordinating care. Pediatric leukemia treatment can be complex. That’s why we’re always thinking about how to make things easier for you. Experienced nurses hold your hand throughout the process. They teach you what to expect and arrange appointments, so you don’t have to come in as often. These nurses have achieved Magnet status, which means you experience compassionate care and nursing excellence. Read more about our awards and recognition.
- Family environment. A primary nurse, social worker, psychology and Child Life therapist make up your child’s care management team. Along with your child’s hematologist/oncologist, they’re the familiar faces you can rely on. They treat you like family and provide stability and a home away from home for your child.
