Songs that involve finger and hand movements encourage eye-hand coordination. They are not only fun but can enhance the fine motor development needed to learn to write.

Step 1: Make eye contact with your baby as you sing a song.

Step 2: Add finger movements. For example, if you sing Itsy Bitsy Spider, make your fingers crawl up your baby’s belly or arm.

Step 3: Sing songs and add finger movement every day. Your baby will one day surprise you and make the movements with his own hands and fingers.
