Phonological Awareness
Help teach body parts by singing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. At this age, your child may not be able to do the movements to the song. If necessary, help him touch the body parts as you sing.
"Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, Knees and Toes,
Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, Knees and Toes,
Eyes and Ears and Mouth and Nose,
Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, Knees and Toes!"
Follow your child’s lead and repeat the song as long as he is interested. For added fun, you might sing it at a normal tempo the first time and then sing it very slowly the next time.
